EWTL Panel Discussion PANEL DISCUSSION – Between Jail and COVID – Risks and Dangers in Filming in 2021 In connection with the human rights focus in the East-West Talent Lab, over the past two years goEast has tackled ethical questions and the political risks of filming in a series of panel discussions. The years 2020 and 2021 have made it clear that these subjects have remained very relevant – the subject of COVID-19 has become an added obstacle to be dealt with. Many participants of the East-West Talent Lab examine politically delicate subject matter and are forced to be totally self-reliant due to the low-budget financing situation of their projects. Alex Shiriaeff, producer and initiator of the advocacy group B2B Doc, will speak with a panel of experts about their filming experiences. The primary objective of the event is to formulate concrete tips and guidelines for emerging filmmakers: for instance, how does one protect one's self, or prepare to deal with risks, or go about avoiding them entirely perhaps?
Participants: Volia Chajkouskaya (producer, Belarus-Estonia), Natalia Imaz (producer, Germany), Radu Jude (director, Romania) and Max Tuula (producer, Czech Republic-Russia)
