On the Pacific coast of Mexico, the country that Ina Marija had chosen as her home, he and his younger daughter Una embark on a journey to retrace her steps. Bartas transforms this personal tragedy into a deeply intimate cinematic experience. The storm-battered mangroves become a mirror and place of refuge. Without dramatizing grief, LAGUNA demonstrates how pain can coexist with the fact that life must go on. Bartas' documentary film is a moving quest for a way to reconcile love and loss.
