Commenting on the film, Romanian philosopher Christian Ferencz-Flatz writes: "VIDEOGRAMS OF A REVOLUTION by Harun Farocki and Andrei Ujică, a project begun in 1991, was one of the first works to place audio-visual accounts of the Romanian Revolution in the foreground as objects for critical examination. Rather than reconstructing the chronology of the revolution, the film poses questions about the images themselves – their production, dissemination, transformation and mutual influence – initiating a sustained reflection on their epistemic and political status."
