CHILD'S POSE

The greatest pain that wealthy socialite Cornelia must bear is her poor relationship to her adult son Barbu. When he runs over a child while attempting to pass another vehicle, Cornelia eagerly jumps to his side, intervening in his case in an attempt to keep him from facing justice. Amid all the tactical manoeuvring, corruption and impeccable contacts, the real heart of the matter, the death of a child and her son's guilt, seems to recede into the background, at least temporarily. CHILD'S POSE won the Golden Bear at the 2013 Berlinale. With this drama staged in a semi-documentary style, director Călin Peter Netzer succeeds in creating an insightful work of social criticism and a profoundly human film.
