A tiny island on the border of the Georgian region of Abkhazia: an old man and his granddaughter are building a hut and planting corn. The rhythm of their daily routine, governed by hard work, is only interrupted by the army driving by and a wounded soldier. As the summer approaches its end, however, everything has changed ... The film’s story, told with impressive minimalism, is a parable of life, a coming-of-age tale, a tender psychological study and an observation of traditions which collide with contemporary structures and conflicts.
