THE LINE

Portrait

A dozen boys in vests and blue shorts are lined up in a row according to their height. They are cowed with respect for an invisible authority. Astonishingly similar personal recollections fl ash into the mind’s eye of any Eastern European who sees this picture, while viewers of other geographical origins tend to link it with media images. Inspired by the sketched sculptures of the artists’ duo Little Warsaw (Kis Varsó – made up of András Gálik and Bálint Havas), Bendek Fliegauf’s fi lm eludes such reflections. A SOR / THE LINE penetrates the psyche of a small boy who is not picked up from school. What will become of him?
