A SPECTRE IS HAUNTING EUROPE

Beyond Belonging

A prologue in which two French men meditate on art, on Marx’s Capital, on bygone revolutionary times. A Georgian eking out a precarious existence in Berlin is about to hang Kazimir Malevich’s Black Square on his kitchen wall when the ghost appears of the Soviet revolutionary poet Vladimir Mayakovsky; Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters end up inside a beer glass. Russian revolutionary fervour meets post-ideological indifference, alienated labour meets manipulated film art: a madly provocative work about the current state of society – playful, political, witty and different. A suprematist comedy.
