Emi, a teacher, makes a homemade sex video with her husband. Somehow it ends up online. What follows is an escalation in three parts: the upset parents at her school demand an explanation. Emi makes her way through a misanthropic city to tell her side of the story to the school director. A symbolic picture dictionary follows, in which conventional symbols are given new, contemporary meanings. The grand finale is a parent-teacher meeting, which, fuelled by comments on social media, quickly becomes a sort of tribunal. With painful accuracy and incredible humour, Radu Jude delivers a genre painting for our times. The film was honoured with the Golden Bear at the 2021 edition of the Berlinale.
