CLOUD OVER THE GANGES

Highlights

Hungarian András is a true PC genius – but also has been a hopeless junkie for years. It is his biggest dream to travel to India, to the shores of the river Ganges. Like a prophecy of a better life, this vision keeps appearing before his mind’s eye. One day András meets Juli in the streets of Budapest, an actress as ambitious as she is unsuccessful. She is another lonely soul, disappointed by life and lost in dreams, which are always a bit bigger than what she is capable of achieving. She wants to help him to overcome his addiction. The two spend the following weeks in András’ apartment, shut off from the outside world. The “cold turkey” causes heavy, almost unbearable withdrawal symptoms for András. Clumsy, but at the same time extremely lovingly, Juli tries to support him in this situation. Together they live through all shallows of the human existence: physical pain, mental suffering, panic attacks, and deep desperation. But they never lose that tiny spark of hope, which gives them the strength to stand this till the end. When it finally is done, they stand on the threshold of a new, happier era in their lives. They decide to make András’ dream come true and to travel to India: to the shores of the river Ganges.
