DEVIL’S BRIDE

This musical is as unfettered as it is diabolical, exalted and whimsical: in the idyllic landscape around Whitehorn’s Windmill (aka Baltaragio malūnas, as Kazys Boruta’s novel upon which the film is based is called) intrigues of seduction and the traffic in souls are in full effect: the little devil Pinčiukas, weary of singing his hosannas and newly arrived on Earth after being driven from Heaven and Hell, takes possession of the mill owner’s soul and marries his daughter Jurga. What then begins is a wild love/devil saga/orgy in rock opera form, which causes bedlam to spread across the entire countryside. Lithuania’s own JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR materialises under the direction of Arūnas Žebriūnas and featuring music by Viačeslavas Ganelinas!
