FOREST WALKERS

Czechoslovakia in the 60ies: The two couples Greta and Churchill and Rufus and Puklice totally neglect all social norms and socialistic ideals. With hardly a penny to their name, they bide their time roaming about, drinking, going on outings to the countryside, and reading poems. Churchill dreams of emigrating, preferably to Australia. When he finally does, he leaves the mentally extremely unstable Greta behind. Years go by, Greta has withdrawn and works in an asylum for dogs. Rufus and Puklice are still a couple, even have a child. While Rufus is barely able to feed his family with a job as a road worker, Puklice looks after “Little Rufus“, their son. She is frustrated by her monotonous, humble life and her hopelessly broken relationship with Rufus. When she finally leaves him and moves to a women’s refuge, Rufus again succumbs to alcohol. One day, Churchill appears again unexpectedly. He makes up with Greta and they as well get a child, a daughter they name “Little Greta“. Many years later, Little Rufus and Little Greta accidentally meet again. They become friends and roam the land like their parents before them. When Little Rufus provokes a train conductor a fist-fight erupts – with lethal results.
