GORBACHEV. HEAVEN

He is one of Russia's least beloved politicians, while the international community has long celebrated him as one of the most influential political personalities of the 20th century: Mikhail Gorbachev. For a "conversation with a weirdo" – as Gorbachev himself dubbed the action – documentary filmmaker Vitaly Mansky visited the 89-year-old former statesman, shadowing him in his everyday life, which has grown pretty lonesome these days. Personal, humorous and thoughtfully self-aware, the two men take a deep dive into the political past of the Soviet Union, attempting to summarise how Gorbachev's decisions impacted each of their lives.
