NEVINOST BEZ ZAŠTITE is based on a 1941 fiction film of the same title that was never realized due to problems that its author Dragoljub Aleksić, the famous acrobat, encountered with the Nazi occupiers. Footage from the uncompleted film, which is an integral part of Makavejev’s work of 1968, demonstrates the strength of the human body and the willpower of the acrobat. It also develops into a story of social injustice and tender love with impressive shots and juxtapositions. The film is considered one of Makavejev’s masterpieces.
