Out of all of Godard’s many on-screen appearances in his own films, his turn in KEEP YOUR RIGHT UP does the most to showcase his considerable talents as a slapstick comedian in the lineage of Harry Langdon or Jerry Lewis. Here he casts himself as a Dostoyevskian idiot who is repeatedly stymied in his attempts to deliver a finished version of his film in time for its premiere, with his travails depicted in a series of loosely connected sketches which alternate with scenes of 1980s pop duo Les Rita Mitsouko working on their next album in the recording studio.
