Highlights
“Two drops of blood, we will fall to the ground as one.” Bura and Jana marry and their two families become mixed together. Bura is from a wealthy, conservative family of butcher-shop proprietors, while Jana’s parents are intellectuals. Together they live in a world characterised by decadence and comfort – that is, until Bura’s mother discovers inconsistencies in the company’s bookkeeping that cause events to snowball out of control. This caustic comedy about the differences and conflicts that can arise within a family is at once a portrait of Zagreb and a love-letter to that entitled lightness of being which is sometimes succeeded by a precipitous fall to the hard floor that facts represent.
