ONCE UPON A TIME IN POLAND

Bioscop

According to surveys, the Czech Republic is the most atheistic of all nations in Europe. Adjacent Poland on the other hand is deeply influenced by Catholicism. In this "film within a film", Vít Klusák and Filip Remunda – the Czech answer to Michael Moore and the Yes Men – tackle their neighbouring country's religious baggage. Director Karel heads out on a mission to get to the bottom of Poland's religiosity. Accompanied by a film team, he attends masses in football stadiums, travels to pilgrimage sites and visits the faithful in their homes. It seems only the ultra-conservative radio station Radio Maria would rather not chat with the Czechs. All the while, Karel is engaged in a private struggle – is he secretly hoping to find Salvation in Poland?
