REVOLUTION OF PIGS

What could be more exciting than camping, especially when one is young and in love or longingly searching for the first love? Tanel hopes that he will meet his first girlfriend during the annual competition for the most capable team of the Communist Youth of Estonia. But during this summer of 1986, the weeks in the countryside do not turn out to be the way Tanel, his buddies or the camp-supervisors have planned: the spirit of rebellion has the kids in its thrall and the perplexed communist functionaries try to counter it with excessive authoritarianism. So it is no surprise that chaos, anarchy and a kind of revolution occur that the good comrades could not have imagined in their worst nightmares. Director Jaak Kilmi took part in goEast’s competition with his film ELAV JÕUD / A LIVING FORCE in 2004.
