TALE IN THE DARKNESS

Competition

A life spent between police station and dancing school – with no partner in either case – often seems bleak and lonely to Gelya (Angelina). A policewoman in a large coastal city, she is mainly responsible for young waifs and strays. She does her best to help, to keep an open ear. Her efforts are not always appreciated. Nor can she be described as popular back at the police station. Adverse though circumstances are, she persists in her apparently futile efforts to win her colleague Dimich as a dancing partner... In long, measured takes, the film recounts the story of a woman and her attempts to gradually change her life, to restore some light to the dark. She does meet somebody, but is he willing to be together with a cop? And what about Sanya, the self-declared poet? Anything not said aloud in SKAZKA PRO TEMNOTU – TALE IN THE DARKNESS, a film of few words, is articulated by the intense camera and precise observations. The pauses are equally important in the dance studio and the police station, where the staff smokes on the stairs outside, and Gelya can briefly relax. And when she smiles for the first time, the sun finally comes out in the midst of all the dark
