After completing his military service, young Erken returns to his native village, only to note with resignation that everything has changed. He encounters alcoholism, violence and poverty. His old friends pass the time with fistfights and indolence, and his girlfriend has married another man. In his film, Serik Aprymov shows the lack of perspective and absence of hope that young people face in poor, economically underdeveloped areas.
