THE FORTRESS EUROPE

Symposium

This disturbing semi-documentary film was shot in the border-regions of Italy, Slovenia, Croatia and Hungary, i.e. the south-eastern border of Europe which is guarded by the Schengen treaty. It centers on the fate of a Russian family. Artjoms ex-wife has moved in with friends in Triest and waits for her daughter Katja, who travels with her father. During the trip, the girl runs away. Separated, they find themselves in a foreign country – without the papers that would allow them to legally continue with their journey towards the West.
