A HOLE IN THE HEAD

Oppose Othering!

“The snow doesn’t fall in order to cover everything, but instead it’s there to make the tracks easier to see.” And thus time, or silence, doesn’t heal wounds either. Alas, the historians despair at the statements of those who wish to speak and are still capable of doing so. Robert Kirchhoff chooses his protagonists with care, returning to them again and again and showing their at times rebellious lives in societies that would just as soon forget everything that happened. Violence against Roma is still “normal” in France, Serbia, the Czech Republic, Slovakia. With the things that become clear in the collected anecdotes of this film, it doesn’t matter one bit whether a three-year-old child can remember or not, regardless of what the wise men say.
