DOG'S NIGHT SONG

Symposium

After a new clergyman takes up office in a small Hungarian village, things begin to change. The newcomer puts an end to ingrained rivalries and other long established conditions; a spirit of hope is widespread. But then the rumours begin: Is the new clergyman an impostor? The police begin investigations, and the clergyman takes flight … Gábor Bódy’s last film is a polyphonic, post-modern epic borne by the rage of punk but equally by lyricism and sagacity. No plot summary can convey the complexity of a film telling several stories at once and becoming much more than a document about universal entropy or the condition of a country and its population caught up in the transition from planned economy to free-market system.
