JOURNAL NO. 1 - AN ARTIST'S IMPRESSION

Beyond Belonging

Two years after the end of the Second World War the Film Journal No. 1 was released in Sarajevo. Four years after the end of the communist bloc this weekly newsreel, which had only survived on nitrate film, was lost in the confusion of the war in Yugoslavia. Where did it end up? This is an attempt at a reconstruction in which the “medium” of the reconstruction reveals itself to be a victim of ethnic cleansing.
