YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU

Competition

A tale of two women, mother and daughter. Of a relationship that was never ever easy. Of two individuals who are tasked, together and alone, with unravelling emotional knots that are the tangled result of decades of conflict. A film that is unusually intimate and gritty, in which Łoziński paints a portrait of his protagonists over the course of several therapy sessions. In parallel, their conversations, which burrow increasingly deeper beneath the surface and become more and more intense, are supported aesthetically by close-up shots of the individuals, so that each and every emotion experienced by mother, daughter and even their therapist is visibly perceptible. One begins to feel as if one is also present in the room one’s self, an observing part of the sessions. Just as in his very personal documentary film FATHER AND SON before, Łoziński is concerned here with showing the depicted individuals, in the previous case his father and himself, in their relationship to one another, all working without a concrete script or foreknowledge of the outcome. And so it is also with YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU that development and outcome are uncertain as shooting begins. What is certain is that the process has yielded a film that is eager and able to appeal to anyone. A work about the fears, difficulties and also the loneliness that we are occasionally able to sense in our relationships to those closest to us.
