Revolution and resistance are not only forms of political and social activism, but also paradigms of artistic creation – both occupy an important place in the historiography of the countries of Eastern and Central Europe, as well as Central Asia and their (film) art.
For the goShorts short film competition entitled ‘Revolutions per Minute’, we are looking for rebellious short films that deal with the struggle against the status quo in terms of content or form. We are looking forward to the submission of films that are dedicated to feminist struggles in patriarchal systems in our focus region. Films that centre democratic movements and figures in authoritarian structures of Central and Eastern European history or the present, or develop artistic resistance against entrenched ideas about film and art.
goShorts will consist of 5 to 7 selected films. A regional jury consisting of professional cinephiles from the Rhine-Main region will decide on the winning film, which will receive a prize of 2,500 euros. After the festival, the programme will tour the region, visiting independent cinemas on its way.
