ANDREY TARKOVSKY. A CINEMA PRAYER

Bioscop

“Originally I wanted to shoot SOLARIS without ever leaving Earth in the film. That would have been much more interesting of course, but Stanislav Lem was opposed to the idea.” There are very few other directors whose work has been reinterpreted, mystified and cultivated as frequently as that of Andrey Tarkovsky. More than 30 years after his passing, Andrey Tarkovsky Jr. dares to tackle his father’s legacy with the aid of rare archival footage and sound recordings. The resulting documentary is a biographical and philosophical film in which Tarkovsky himself, among other figures, speaks at length about his relationship to art, religion, family and freedom.
