TRIPLEFEATURE

Following an anti-Semitic campaign by the Polish Communist Party in 1968, almost the entire remaining Jewish population took flight from Poland. The filmmaker’s family was among the 20,000 emigrés. Jacob Dammas grew up in Denmark, where his mother believes the doors to the past should remain closed. But he decides to search for a sideboard his family left behind. When he rings the doorbells of the former neighbours, many doors stay closed, others are hesitantly opened. Deeply ingrained resentment, repression, and everyday anti-Semitism emerge from conversations or passing remarks on the stairs.
