TIME OF THE COMET

Highlights

An Albanian village shortly before the outbreak of World War I. Somehow or another, a current newspaper has found its way to the village, and reports that a German king has been installed as the ruler of Albania. Five of the local peasants decide to go to war for their new king, to serve the cause of liberty and peace. Equipped with a map on which Albania doesn’t even appear, they march off in search of the war: “We’ve got somewhere, that is to say, nowhere.” Shestan, the self-appointed captain of the five freedom fighters, falls in love with a young girl named Agnes, and Kus Babaj, the tough leader of the rebellion, falls in love with – Shestan. An enchanting historical epic in which the balance between comedy and tragedy is skilfully maintained. In the end, the five farmers do find “their” war. And it is truly less glorious than they expected.
