RED COLOURED GREY TRUCK

Competition

“Oh Lord, won’t you buy me a Mercedes Benz?” A strange, simple-minded character meets a temperamental singer who cannot bear reality without hashish. Suzana has left Belgrade because she’s pregnant; Ratko was just released from prison and accidentally took possession of a red truck, which he loves dearly – even though he cannot even tell its colour, since he’s colour-blind. Together both drive through a highly volatile Yugoslavia on the eve of the civil war: roadblocks everywhere – only those who know how to trade weapons, make use of their physical advantages or sometimes simply vanish quickly will ever reach their destiny. As different as Ratko and Suzana are, they certainly begin to grow fond of one another. But before they can really bond, priests will end up under their wheels, villages will burn and dwarfs play droll tunes. Srdjan Koljeviæs debut is a profound comedy and a romantic road-movie at the same time. SIVI KAMION CRVENE BOJE won not only last year’s Hessian Film Award for Best Film, but also numerous international awards – especially those bestowed by the audience. Its female lead, Aleksandra Balmazoviæ, is a member of this year’s goEast jury.
