In front of a live audience and a three-member expert jury, the participants of the East-West Talent Lab present their 15 selected project ideas from the fields of short fiction film and experimental film, animation and virtual reality as well as short and feature-length documentary films. The young talents come from Central and Eastern Europe and Germany. The respective pitches are to take no more than five minutes. After delivery, each pitch receives direct feedback from the expert jury, which is composed this year of Marjorie Bendeck, director of the East-West co-production market Connecting Cottbus, the CEO of the film distribution company Salzgeber, Björn Koll, and film producer Christoph Thoke. The best pitch wins the goEast Development Award, presented annually since 2014 and endowed with 3,500 euros in prize money. The jury also awards the Renovabis Research Grant, also worth 3,500 euros, which goes to a documentary film project with a focus on human rights, as well as a non-cash prize package for further project consulting, sponsored by the Polish platform Pitch the Doc. The prize-winners are announced by the jury in the scope of the goEast awards ceremony.
