East-West Talent Lab

goEast fosters young filmmakers and creatives from Central and Eastern Europe and provides them an opportunity to network with like-minded individuals from Germany. In these times of social distancing, restricted travel and moratoriums on live events, the EAST-WEST TALENT LAB has been adapted to take place as a virtual meet-up. A multi-faceted educational programme that can be implemented online has been conceived for the approximately thirty participants. Among other places, the young talents come from Azerbaijan, Germany, Georgia, Croatia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Tajikistan, Czech Republic, Turkmenistan and Ukraine. In the scope of numerous events, the Lab participants have the opportunity to share ideas and experience and extend their professional networks. They meet industry representatives, have the chance to present their project ideas and can find co-production partners. The programme includes lectures on funding for co-productions in Europe, as well as distribution and sales strategies, panel discussions with editors from television broadcasters as well as with filmmakers discussing filming conditions during the pandemic, a case study for THE RAIN WILL NEVER STOP, a co-production from the Competition programme at goEast, mentoring in the area of project development, presentation training and an experimental film master class with Péter Lichter and Márió Z. Nemes. goEast also offers participants the possibility to arrange individual appointments with a project director from Eurimages and editors from ARTE and MDR.
