The filmmaker and her protagonists participate in a personal research project on intimacy. TOUCH ME NOT takes us on a voyage of discovery through the emotional worlds of Laura, Tómas and Christian, blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality, and providing profoundly insightful insights into their lives. Because they long for intimacy but at the same time are very afraid of it, they are working to overcome habitual patterns of behavior, defense mechanisms and taboos, to break away from them and finally be free.
Awarded the Berlinale Golden Bear, the film explores how we can experience intimacy in unexpected ways and love one each other without losing ourselves. The decision of the jury around Tom Tykwer was met partly with enthusiasm, partly with horror. In her first feature film, the Romanian director succeeded in tackling the universal topic of sexuality in an unusual, provocative and exciting way.
